About the Arizona Healthcare Workplace Violence Coalition™
Creating Safer Workplaces for the People Who Care for Our Communities
Healthcare workers dedicate their careers to caring for others, yet violence has become an increasingly common part of their work environment. No single hospital, healthcare system, profession, or organization can solve this challenge alone. Meaningful progress requires collaboration across healthcare organizations, education, research, government, public safety, professional associations, policymakers, and the communities we serve.
The Arizona Healthcare Workplace Violence Coalition™ (AHWVC) is an independent statewide nonprofit collaborative learning network dedicated to improving healthcare worker safety through education, collaboration, networking, research, resource sharing, and evidence-informed practice. Our goal is to bring organizations and professionals together to strengthen prevention, preparedness, response, recovery, and continuous improvement efforts that reduce workplace violence across Arizona’s healthcare system.
Rather than focusing on individual incidents alone, the Coalition promotes a systems-based approach that recognizes workplace violence as a shared responsibility requiring coordinated action. We facilitate meaningful conversations, encourage the exchange of ideas and promising practices, support collaborative problem-solving, and help connect professionals working toward the common goal of safer healthcare workplaces.
The Coalition serves as a trusted forum where healthcare leaders, frontline staff, educators, researchers, security professionals, legal and regulatory experts, policymakers, emergency responders, students, and community partners can learn from one another and develop practical, sustainable solutions together.
